SAS SAINTLY NEWS

As last week was Fire Safety Week, Columbus Volunteer Fire Dept. treated the littlest Saints to fire safety information and demonstrations, along with the bonuses of spraying a hose and riding on the fire truck. 4k, 5k and 1st grade students visited the CVFD station, while the 3k students welcomed the local heroes to the SAS campus for their experience. SAS is grateful to these special volunteers for taking the time to teach our youth and for keeping our community safe!

Preparations for the annual Halloween Carnival are in full swing. Raffle tickets are available from any SAS student and in the school office. Top prize is a 2025 Mahindra tractor with loader valued at over $19,000 (donated by Cliff Jones RV and Tractor). Items for the Live and Silent Auction are being listed now as well. Make plans to join in the fun on Saturday, Oct. 25.

Winners in the Carnival Poster Contest are (Places - 1st, 2nd, 3rd): Kinder – Hewitt Sciba, Willow Ross, Charlie Smith, 1st grade – Knox Bohuslav, Kallen Kovar, Cole Pawlak, 2nd grade – Kalli Kovar, Sage Loessin, Dani Fuentes, 3rd grade – Darcy Sciba, Reese Lively, Jade Nelson, 4th grade – Addie Werland, Ruth Walla, Brynlynn Shifflett, 5th grade – Olivia Lowe, 6th grade – Khloe Warschak, Anslee Busselman, Carley Aaron, 7th – Kathryn Newman, Cormac Barten, 8th grade – Abby Fuller. All of the creative student-made posters are on display in businesses around town.

Congratulations to the following students recently elected to the Saint Ambassador leadership team: Abigail Wolters – President, Keaton Watkins – Vice-President, Isabella Lowe – Secretary, Charley McBride – Treasurer and Emma Fitzgerald – Chaplain.

Better late than never: Kudos to SAS 7th grader for his win in the Catholic Life Insurance Flag Day Video Contest this past summer. Under the theme “Favorite Monuments and National Parks”, Landry’s video on Zion National Park earned him 2nd place.

Upcoming events: Home volleyball games vs. Nazareth on Oct. 15 at 5 p.m. B Team volleyball tournament at St. Michael on 10/18. Advisory Council meeting on Oct. 20 6 p.m. SAS welcomes all to attend Children’s Mass each Friday at 8:15 a.m.
