The Weimar Ladycats are now 5-1 in District play so far, this season according to MaxPreps, which holds them in 1st place in the district.
This is a team looking to make some noise in the postseason and beating Louise in three straight sets helped the Ladycats strengthen their grip on the top spot in the District Standings.
The Ladycats started this season knowing they were good enough to get back to the playoffs. Now with only a handful of games left, they are proving that they deserve a playoff spot.
In their most recent district game, the Ladycats took on Louise and only needed three sets to be declared the winner in this match. In the first set of the match the Ladycats and Lousie went back and forth with neither team able to establish a lead.
The Ladycats went on a run later in the set though that gave them plenty of cushion on the scoreboard. Louise was unable to respond to the Ladycats offensive surge, and the Ladycats came away with a 25-16 win in the first set.
In the second set is where the Ladycats defense started to take over the game as the suffocated Louise’s offense. Louise was able to muster up 17 points while the Ladycats scored 25 points to go up two sets to none.
In the third set, the Ladycats defense played their best set of the match as they held Louise to only 15 points. Louise got some quality scoring chances in the third set that the Ladycats sniffed out.
They patrolled the net and Lousie was able to squeak a few balls past the Ladycat defense, but it was the Ladycats who took home the victory in the third set. While the Ladycats’ defense did its job, the Ladycats offense continued to attack Louise’s defense. The Ladycats took home a 25-15 win in the third set to close out the match and improve the Ladycats to a 5-1 record in District play. This win inches the Ladycats closer to locking up the top spot in the district standings as they continue their playoff push.
The Ladycats now look ahead to their next game against Shiner on Friday, Oct. 24, on their home court with the opening serve set for 4 p.m.
