The Columbus Lady Cardinals took on the Hallettsville Lady Brahmas this past week and picked up their 13th district win of the season.
The Lady Cards lost the first set in this one but quickly bounced back as they gave their fans a win on senior night.
The seniors that were honored were Emma Calhoun, Kyndal Kuhn, Caylie Neisner, Gracie Schobel and Thea Schobel. These ladies have been a huge part of the Lady Cards and deserve the spotlight that was given to them against Hallettsville.
On a night where the Lady Cards celebrated everything their seniors had done for the program it caused them to start a little slow in this match. In the first set, Hallettsville came out and took advantage of their early opportunities.
Hallettsville came away with a 25-18 win in the first set, but all it did was wake the Lady Cards up. They came back in the second set and dominated Hallettsville as they evened the match up at one set a piece.
The Lady Cards continued this high-level play in the third set as they defeated Hallettsville with a score of 25-18. Then in the fourth and final set, the Lady Cards came away with a 25-21 win to win the match on senior night.
The Lady Cards were led on offense by Harper Gerik, who had 16 kills during the win over Hallettsville. One of the Lady Cards seniors, Gracie Schobel, was second on the team with 11 kills against Hallettsville.
