COLORADO COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT

TUESDAY, JULY 22

At approximately 8:14 a.m. deputy Lopez was dispatched to the Columbus Oaks nursing home in reference to a mental patient needing psychiatric care. Arraignments were made and the patient was transported by EMS to the designated psychiatric facility.

At approximately 12:34 p.m. deputy Villarreal was dispatched to the sheriff’s office to meet with a complainant in reference to an assault that occurred in the 800 block of Taylor Street and Alleyton Texas. On arrival, he met with a complaint and obtained information to generate a report. The case is closed by arrest.

At approximately 3:12 p.m. deputy Gorman while patrolling Highway 71 near Altair initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation. After further investigation, William Brozowski, age 62, of Columbus, Texas was arrested for possession of controlled substance penalty group 1>1G<4G- Felony 3, case cleared by adult arrest.

At approximately 9:00 p.m. deputy Smith initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Walnut and Spring Street in Columbus. The subject of the traffic stop was determined to have an outstanding warrant. The subject was released after it was determined that the person would not be accepted into the detention center due to medical reasons.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 23

At approximately 12:39 p.m. deputy Lopez was dispatched to the Texana clinic in reference to a mental health transport. The patient was then transported to a psychiatric facility for treatment.

At approximately 1:05 p.m. deputy Lopez was dispatched to a mental subject in crisis. The subject was evaluated by texanna and was released under a safety plan.

At approximately 7:18 p.m. deputy Byars was dispatched to the 100 block of Henry Street, Glidden, in reference to a dog bite. Upon making contact with a complainant, enough information was gathered on scene to generate a report. Case cleared.

THURSDAY, JULY 24

At approximately 4:23 p.m. deputy Leihardt went to 906 Lyons avenue in Schulenburg, to execute a warrant. Amanda Jane Velasquez, age 47, of Schulenburg, Texas, was arrested for an outstanding warrant issued by the 25th judicial District Court for motion to adjudicate possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 g. Case closed by arrest.

At approximately 8:16 p.m. deputy Chapa was dispatched to the 1300 block of County Road 151 in reference to a structure fire. Upon arrival, enough information was gathered to generate a report. Case cleared.

FRIDAY, JULY 25

At approximately 2:17 a.m. deputy Chapo was dispatched to the 1400 block of Seeley Road, Cat Spring, in reference to a welfare concern. Upon arrival, enough information was gathered to generate a report. Case cleared.

At approximately 7:56 a.m. deputy Cantu was dispatched to the 1100th block of S Front Street, Glidden, in regards to an animal attack. A neighbor was issued a citation for certain dogs in coyotes prohibited from running at large. Case closed.

At approximately 11:43 p.m. deputy Cantu was dispatched to the lobby of the sheriff’s office in reverence to a citizen who resides at the 100 block of 5th Street, Glidden, Texas, who wanted to report fraudulent transactions.

At approximately 11:50 p.m. deputy Frey was dispatched to the area of the 686 eastbound mile marker of Interstate 10, Weimar, in reference to a vehicle fire. Upon further investigation the fire had been contained to the engine bay and was extinguished by the driver of the vehicle prior to any emergency personnel arriving on scene. The vehicle was off of the roadway and released to the driver who was waiting for a friend to help him tow the vehicle back home. Case closed by report.

SATURDAY, JULY 26

At approximately 3:22 p.m. deputies were dispatched to the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office lobby in reference to an information report. Information was received with the report generated for information purposes only.

At approximately 6:17 p.m. deputy Johnson was dispatched to the 200 block of 10th Street Glidden in reference to an assault call. After an investigation or report was taken. Statements were taken from both parties involved.

At approximately 10:04 p.m. deputy Johnson was dispatched to the 1000 block of Buescher Road in reference to an assault call. After an investigation or report was taken. The suspect was gone upon officers arrival.

SUNDAY, JULY 27

At approximately 2:36 p.m. deputy Leihardt arrived at a motor vehicle accident at the interstate 10 699 eastbound exit ramp. After further investigation a stolen Big Tex dump trailer was recovered, Alejandro was arrested for a warrant out of Wharton County Sheriff’s office for bond forfeiture possession of marijuana lesson 2 oz. Alejandro was transported to the Colorado County Jail and released to jail staff without incident after being medically cleared at Columbus Community Hospital. Case closed by stolen vehicle recovery and adult arrest.

At approximately 1:33 p.m. deputy Johnson was patrolling in the area of the 1400 block of County Road 151 when he observed a white and color SUV pass him with defective license plate lights. After an investigation it was found that the passenger had an active warrant through Colorado County. Shameka, 47, of Columbus, Texas was taken into custody without further incident.

TUESDAY, JULY 29

At approximately 9:44 a.m. deputy Lopez was dispatched to the Texana clinic in reference to a mental health transport. The patient was then transported to a psychiatric facility for treatment.

At approximately 5:51 p.m. deputies were dispatch to the 3600 block of Highway 90 in reference to a collision involving a pedestrian. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene and has yet to be identified. This case is still under investigation.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 30

At approximately 10:45 a.m. deputy Weido spoke with a complainant in reference to fraud involving an elderly victim who resides in New Ulm. Information was taken to conduct an investigation.

At approximately 5:00 p.m. deputy Smith was dispatched to the 5200 block of Main Street in Sheridan regarding a criminal trespass. Upon further investigation, two subjects were issued criminal trespass warnings.

At approximately 6:58 p.m. deputy Johnson was dispatched for a public service at the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office in reference to an animal call. After an investigation or report was taken.

THURSDAY, JULY 31

At approximately 8:26 a.m. deputy Lopez conducted a welfare check on a mental patient that resides in Colorado County. The patient was determined to be in crisis. He then transported the patient to a psychiatric facility for treatment.
