The Weimar Ladycats hosted the Shiner Lady Comanches last Friday night for one of their final district games of the year.

This district rivalry always has some good games associated with it, and this one was the same as the Ladycats brought home the win in five sets.

In the first set of the match, it really looked like the game could go either way as both the Ladycats and Lady Comanches were scoring at will. It was a high scoring and high tempo game where mistakes were punished immediately.

In a tight game like that the team that is able to limit their mistakes the most usually comes away with the win. In the first set, it was the Ladycats who limited their mistakes as they picked up a 25-19 win.

In the second set, the intensity of the match only elevated as the Lady Comanches came back with some fire in their bellies in the second set. The Ladycats offense played a great set too as they scored 23 points. They just fell short as the Lady Comanches won the set 25-23.

In the third set, the Ladycats returned to form as they held the Lady Comanches to only 14 points in the third set. With the Ladycats offense executing at a high level, they were able to come away with a 25-14-win to go up two sets to one.

The fourth set mirrored the second set in score as the Lady Comanches again won the set 25-23. The Lady Comanches were doing everything they could to win this game because a win for them would help them jump the Ladycats in the district standings.

The Ladycats and Lady Comanches were fighting for the 3rd place spot in the district standings. So, with the Lady Comanches sitting only one game back of the 3rd place spot which the Ladycats held, it made for a truly great match heading into the fifth set.

In a race to 15 points both teams came out and left it all out on the court in a bid for the 3rd seed in the district standings. It was a back-and-forth set filled with drama, but when the dust finally settled, the Ladycats were named the victors.

This helped the Ladycats lock up the 3rd seed going into the playoffs, which is a matchup advantage they will look to take advantage of in the early round of playoffs.
