The Columbus Cardinals took on their district rivals, the Hallettsville Brahmas, on Halloween night in a close game.

The game started a little slow for the Cardinals offense as they went scoreless in the first quarter. Hallettsville was able to find the endzone in the first quarter, so they carried a 7-0 lead into the second quarter.

In the second quarter though, the Cards offense found their groove and shortly after they found the endzone. They found the endzone not once but twice in the second quarter to carry a 14-7 lead into halftime.

Coming out of halftime, the Cards continued to pour on the points as they scored two more times in the third quarter. During this time the Cards defense were slamming the door on Hallettsville, but this would not last long as Hallettsville started to break through in the fourth quarter.

Cooper Osbourne recorded a tackle fo r loss in the win over Hallettsville.

Fortunately for the Cards though they were able to score once more in the fourth quarter and finished the game with a final score of 35-21.

Jack Schobel was under center for the Cards, and he completed five of his eight passes for 91 yards. While he had a decent game throwing the ball, he did most of his damage on the ground for the Cards.

He carried the ball 14 times for a total of 104 yards and three touchdowns which led the Cards in rushing. Close behind him was Doc Cantu who carried the ball five times for 44 yards and a touchdown.

The Cards final touchdown came in the form of a pick-6 as Brody Vinklarek intercepted a Hallettsville pass and returned it for a touchdown. He was not the only Cardinal defender to intercept a Hallettsville pass as Brody Tribe got his hands on a Hallettsville pass that set the offense up for a score.

The win pushed the Cards to a 7-2 overall record and 3-0 district record as they now look ahead to their final district game of the season.
