The Highway 71 southbound frontage road will be converted to a one-way road between U.S. Highway 90 and Interstate 10 starting as early as Thursday, Nov. 6. According to BGE Project Manager Madison Shodrock, this transition is part of ongoing construction on I-10 to transition its frontage roads to one-way roads to enhance traffic capacity and improve safety. To accommodate this change, BGE will construct a new underpass at County Road 140 for southbound traffic to pass underneath and head northbound.
