The Weimar Ladycats were eliminated from the playoffs after losing in the Area Round to the Burton Panthers.
Before being eliminated though the Ladycats did defeat the Pettus Eagles to capture the Bi-District Championship.
Vs. Pettus, W, 3-0 (25-14, 25-3, 25-8) In the first round of the playoffs, the Ladycats were matched up with the Pettus Eagles with the Bi-District Championship on the line.
The Ladycats struggled at the start of this match, and that allowed the Eagles to score some points early in the game. The Ladycats quickly returned to form though, and their offense took over the game.
The Ladycats finished the first set with a score of 25-14 and for the rest of the match they gave up only 11 points.
In the second set the Ladycats defense came out hot, and they suffocated the Eagles offense. They held them to only three points in the second set, and the Ladycats offense took full advantage of the opportunities given to them.
They closed out the second set with a score of 25-3, which was a huge statement win in the second set. Then finally in the third set, the Ladycats continued to handle their business and closed out the third set 25-8 and captured the Bi-District Championship.
With the first round in the rear-view mirror, the Ladycats look ahead to the Area Round where they ran into the Burton Panthers.
@ Burton, W, 3-0, (25-19, 25-15, 25-23) Unfortunately for the Ladycats this is where their season would come to an end as the Panthers defeated the Ladycats in three straight sets.
Burton is a quality volleyball team every single year and is always a tough out no matter wo they play. The Ladycats did not roll over and die though; they put up their fist and put up one hack of a fight.
Despite the second set where the Ladycats only scored 15 points, they were extremely competitive in this match. They never backed down from the Panthers and made them earn every single point they scored.
In the first set the Ladycats lost by only six points and then in the third set they lost by only two points. They were only a couple of plays away from winning this game, and they will learn from this loss and come back even stronger next season.
The Ladycats season came to an end earlier than they wanted and while it is disappointing, they have plenty of excitement to look forward to in 2026 as there will be a ton of young talent returning to the court for the Ladycats.
