Lady Raiders have a new softball coach

The Rice Lady Raiders have been in search of a new head coach for their softball team, but now the search is officially over.

The Rice Lady Raiders have named Camrynn Ziegler to be their next Head Softball Coach for the upcoming season.

Ziegler was named the new Head Coach for the Lady Raider after the unexpected death of Noel Lopez earlier this year. Ziegler knows she has big shoes to fill but is excited and ready for the challenges of the job.

Ziegler is a graduate of New Mexico Highlands University where she graduated with a master’s degree in business administration. During her time at NMHU, Ziegler played five years of collegiate softball from 2018-2022 where she played center field.

During that time Ziegler had a .325 batting average, hit 28 doubles, nine triples, smacked 11 home runs and recorded 68 RBIs. As a freshman she led the team with seven stolen bases and was second on the team with 26 runs scored.

She eventually became an assistant coach for NMHU where she was able to learn a lot before accepting the role as head coach at Rice High School.

Ziegler has plenty of time to get settled in before the season starts, but things just got way more exciting at Rice High School as there is a new bench boss for the softball team.
