The Weimar Wildcats were eliminated in the Bi-District round of the 2025 playoffs after they were defeated by the Refugio Bobcats.

The Wildcats fought hard and tried to battle back late in the fourth quarter to keep their season alive but unfortunately, they were on the losing end of a 35-23 score.

The game started out with a 0-0 score in the first quarter, and the Wildcats opened the scoring in the second quarter. Sammy Hernandez booted a 32-yard field goal to give the Wildcats a 3-0 lead.

Shortly after, the Bobcats came storming down the field and ran in a 46yard touchdown to take a 7-3 lead. This lead stuck until halftime and when the teams came back from halftime, the Bobcats continued to score.

The Bobcats scored twice in the third quarter to make the score 21-3 going into the fourth quarter. The Wildcats knew they needed to respond early if they were going to have a chance, and they did exactly that.

Jerron Fisher took a handoff and ran the ball in from five yards out to score a touchdown. After a failed two-point conversion, the Wildcats found themselves trailing 21-9.

Unfortunately for the Wildcats, the Bobcats came back down the field to score yet again to make the score 28-9. The Wildcats still had some fight left in them though and this time it was Raul Sierra’s turn to find the endzone.

Sierra scored, and after a successful point after touchdown, the Wildcats trailed 28-16 before the Bobcats put the game out of reach with another touchdown to make the score 35-16. Fisher was able to score once more before the final buzzer sounded to arrive at the final score of 35-23.

Collin Morrison was under center for the Wildcats, and he completed seven of his 16 pass attempts for 57 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. Hernandez and Fisher were heavily featured in the pass game, but it was Sierra who caught the lone touchdown pass from Morrison.

On the ground, Fisher led the Wildcats with 17 carries for 155 yards and two touchdowns. He was joined by Mikael Shifatu, who was second on the team with 11 carries for 46 yards.

The season ended earlier than the Wildcats expected, but they will learn from this loss and come back even better in 2026.
