SAS SAINTLY NEWS

SAS SAINTLY NEWS
Junior high students Kyle Glueck, Clark Smith and Jase Brownlow launch an egg off the SAS balcony with hopes it doesn’t break.

St. Anthony students are having fun in the classroom. STREAM elective students held an egg drop challenge, where students built protection around an egg to see if it could egg will survive a fall from the science lab balcony. SAS 1st graders examined the dropped eggs to find which of the engineered projects were still intact.

SAS 5th graders made “Pringles Ringles” for a recent STEM challenge. Using only fragile Pringles chips (and a lot of careful placement), students fashioned circles by stacking the curved chips together. Students learned how the physics of gravity and friction make this experiment work.

Creativity was front and center as Mrs Beauchamp’s 2nd graders presented their Book Character Pumpkin projects to special guests recently. The pumpkins of different sizes were decorated to resemble the main character of their book report. These delightful pumpkins have been real eye-catchers in the Elementary hallway.

Last week, 3rd grade Saints welcomed Ms. Jacy Brown of Texas Farm Bureau for an engaging lesson on pumpkins. Ms. Brown discussed different kinds of pumpkins but her “pumpkin pie in a bag” treat was the tasty highlight of her visit!

Recent SAS Watch D.O.G.S. volunteers have been Mr. Keith McRee, Mr. Luke Schobel and Dr. Brian Fitzgerald. Both men joined the junior high PE classes, assisted in classrooms throughout the day and greeted students at morning dropoff. By their presence, these “Dads of Great Students” become role models for the students, demonstrating the importance of education.

This Friday, Nov. 21, Saints Cheerleaders will host a pep rally starting at 12:45 p.m., followed by an early release at 1:15 p.m. to kick off Thanksgiving break. There will be no school Mon. Nov. 24 through Fri. Nov. 27.

Upcoming events: Basketball in Victoria vs. OLV on 11/20 (all boys teams, A girls). SAS welcomes all to attend Children’s Mass each Friday at 8:15 a.m.

Be on your guard, stand firm in the faith, be courageous, be strong. [1COR 16:13]
