Bishop Briner to speak at TCCM—ELCA Congregations

The Rev. Susan J. Briner, Bishop of the ELCA Southwestern Texas Synod, will be guest preacher at communion services on Sunday, Nov. 23 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, County Road 146, Sublime off Highway 90-A (8 a.m.) and Faith Lutheran Church, 615 South Eagle, Weimar (10 a.m.).

These two congregations are partner churches with three other congregations in the shared ministry (TCCM) serving Colorado, Fayette and Lavaca Counties. Pastor Herb Beyer, Lead Pastor for the Tri-County Cooperative Ministries ELCA, will preside at both services. Bishop Briner will also be present at Annual Meal of Thanksgiving following the worship at Faith Lutheran Church. Members at Faith will be bringing the usual Thanksgiving types of food for the annual event—turkey, ham, dressing, side dishes, and desserts.

Briner was elected bishop of the Southwestern Texas Synod in 2018 and elected to a second term in 2024. Prior to serving as a pastor, she worked in the telecommunications industry for 15 years. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science from Duke University and a Master of Divinity Degree from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia, S.C.
