Man pleads guilty to child porn charge

A Houston man Columbus Police Department arrested on March 1, 2024, pled guilty to possession of child pornography and was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

“According to court documents, the trafficking charge against Sirterryon Preston was dismissed as part of an agreement to plead guilty to the child porn charge,” Erik Barajas with ABC 13 Eyewitness News reported on Oct. 29.

The Columbus Police Department successfully arrested Preston, 27, in connection with the disappearance of a 12-year-old girl in Missouri City the week prior. According to previous reports, the Houston Police Department expressed concern that the 12-year-old may have been a trafficking victim.

After attempting to flee police custody, Preston was arrested, taken to Colorado County Detention Facility and charged with evading arrest. The child was recovered and taken to the Texas Children’s Hospital to be evaluated for damages.

The FBI, the Sheriff’s Office, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety assisted CPD in the rescue operation.
