Month shows importance of community, connection

November is a time to pause, reflect, and give thanks. Here in Columbus, it’s a month that reminds us of the importance of community, connection, and the small actions that make a big difference.

As Executive Director of the Columbus Chamber of Commerce, I am continually inspired by the generosity, dedication, and spirit of our local businesses, volunteers, and residents. From hosting community events to supporting one another in times of challenge, our town’s strength comes from people who care — people who show up, pitch in, and keep Columbus thriving.

This season is also an excellent opportunity to shop locally and support the businesses that make our community unique. Each purchase, each visit, each word of encouragement contributes directly to the health of our local economy and helps sustain the families, entrepreneurs, and artisans who call Columbus home. When we choose local, we’re not just buying goods and services — we’re investing in our neighbors, our community, and our shared future.

November is also a month of community spirit. Whether it’s Thanksgiving celebrations, charitable initiatives, or Chamber- sponsored events, how we come together matters. Every act of participation strengthens our bonds, reminds us of our shared values, and creates a sense of belonging that defines Columbus.

As we enter this season of gratitude, I encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect on the people, businesses, and organizations that make our town so special. Let’s support one another, celebrate our successes, and look forward to a bright and promising year ahead.

Because in Columbus, gratitude isn’t just a feeling — it’s a way of life. And together, it’s what keeps our community strong, vibrant, and connected.

Happy Thanksgiving from the Chamber! We’re grateful for each of you and the vibrant community we share. Don’t forget to join us for our Lighted Christmas Parade on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 6 p.m. and our Ladies Night Out event on December 4 in beautiful downtown Columbus.
