The Weimar Ladycats have officially tipped off the start of the 2025 season, and they got started on the right foot.
The Ladycats took on the Bay City Blackcats for their first game of the year and came away with a victory.
The Ladycats started the game on their heels a little bit as the Blackcats suffocated them defensively. They forced Weimar to turn the ball over several times just in the first quarter, and it led Bay City to jump out to an early lead.
Bay City had multiple steals in the first quarter, and it helped them establish an early 10-2 lead. The Ladycats did not panic though and just kept playing their game, knowing things would eventually breakthrough for them.
The Ladycats went into the half trailing but in the third quarter they started to cut into Bay City’s lead. They cut the score down to 24-19 as the Ladycats offense started to come to life in the second half of the game.
By the time the fourth quarter rolled around, the Ladycats still trailed on the scoreboard but only by four points as Bay City tried to hang onto a 36-32 lead. Shortly after though, the Ladycats offense broke through yet again and went on an 8-6 run to close out the game with a final score of 44-40.
This is the Ladycats’ first win of the year, and they will be hungry for more when they return to the court Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 7 p.m. when they take on the Lexington Eagles.
