Funds will support scholarships awarded to Columbus High School graduates pursuing degrees in healthcare, mental health, and skilled trades
The Columbus Education Foundation (CEF) announced exciting progress in its Pathway to Possibilities Matching Gift Campaign, sharing that the community has already contributed more than $30,000 toward the campaign’s $50,000 goal. This strong response moves CEF more than halfway toward unlocking the full match, which would double the impact of every gift and significantly expand scholarship opportunities for Columbus ISD seniors pursuing careers in healthcare, mental health, and skilled trades.
“We are thrilled to see such incredible support from the community,” said Phillip Garcia, CEF President. “Raising more than 50% of our goal in such a short amount of time is an incredible milestone, and it shows how much Columbus believes in its students. With one final push, we know we can unlock the full match and open even more doors for seniors preparing for careers that strengthen our community.”
The scholarships awarded as a result of the Pathway to Possibilities campaign will play a vital role in helping students pursue meaningful, high-demand career paths. Many students planning to enter healthcare or mental health fields face steep tuition costs and limited financial resources. Others who want to pursue trade certifications struggle with the cost of technical programs and equipment.
“As a nursing student, the scholarship I received from the Columbus Education Foundation made a real difference for me and my family,” said Hannah Kunschick, 2025 CEF scholarship recipient. “Managing college costs is a challenge and this support eased that burden in a meaningful way. It reminded me that my community believes in my future, and it motivates me to keep working toward my goal of becoming a pediatric nurse practitioner so I can help others facing health challenges.”
Community members are encouraged to help CEF reach the full $50,000 match before the December 31 deadline. Every gift made by the deadline will be matched dollar for dollar, doubling its impact. Every dollar given is doubled. Every gift opens a pathway.
