COLUMBUS – The Columbus Chamber of Commerce Tourism Director Shelley Janik made the trip to Austin on Wednesday, April 12 to represent Columbus at the State Capitol.

While there, a resolution was made by Representative Stan Kitzman recognizing Columbus’ Bicentennial.

When asked what the experience was like for Janik, she said, “Columbus’ rich history makes us a town like no other. Our story truly is what novels are written about. It was a great honor for me as a native of Columbus to represent our beautiful town as it was recognized by Representative Kitzman for its 200th birthday.”

The city also received a proclamation from Governor Greg Abbott in January recognizing Columbus’ Bicentennial. The city has many events planned this year to celebrate the city’s Bicentennial with events arranging from a Great Gatsby theatre production back in February to an upcoming tree planting ceremony on Saturday, April 22 at 11 a.m. in Mid-Town Park.
