The Rice Raiders have officially started their 2025 season and have already played two games so far this season.
They took on Moulton and El Campo in their first two games of the year and unfortunately, they were on the losing end of both games.
@ Moulton, L, 60-37 In their first game of the season, the Raiders took on the Moulton Bobkats. The game started out with some good pace as both teams made their presence felt on the scoreboard.
The first quarter ended with a 12-10 score in favor of Moulton, and in the second quarter they outscored the Raiders 13-7 to take a 25-17 lead into the halftime.
In the third quarter, Moulton outscored the Raiders 21-8 to extend their lead going into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Raiders managed to score 12 points, but Moulton scored 14 points to cap off their 60-37 win.
This was not how the Raiders wanted to start the season, but they will take this loss in stride and try to learn as much as they can before taking on the El Campo Ricebirds.
@ El Campo, L, 74-45 In game two of the 2025 season, the Raiders defense played potentially their worst game so far this season. They gave up 74 points, 47 of which came just in the first half.
In the first quarter, the Raiders were outscored 24-11 and then they were outscored 23-6 in the second quarter to go into halftime with a score of 47-17. Coming out of the break trailing by 30 points is not the best spot to be in, but the Raiders tried to make a comeback anyway.
Unfortunately, they scored only six points in the third quarter while El Campo scored 10 to extend their lead. Then in the fourth quarter the Raiders finally outscored El Campo 22-17, but it was too late as El Campo picked up a 74-45 win.
These were some tough losses for the Raiders, but they will be back in action on Saturday, Dec. 6, when they will take on the Sealy Tigers.
