The Rice Lady Raiders have dropped back-toback games in tournament play recently and have been struggling so far in tournament play.
In tournament play they are playing some bigger schools, so the difficulty level is increased during tournament play.
The Lady Raiders took on Boling and Weimar recently and dropped both games by a combined score of 120-46. The Lady Raiders have to find a way to get some offense and like some of their teams, it is a bit of a problem between the ears.
They seemingly lack confidence when they have the ball in their hand, and they keep trying to make the same plays instead of just moving the ball around. Another problem when they do move the ball is either too late and they aren’t ready for the pass or it’s too late and results in a steal.
These were problems this team had last season too and in 2025 they are wanting to change up those habits. They have the talent, everyone can see it, but this team has to start believing in themselves.
The Lady Raiders have to find some mental toughness too because the opposing team scores a couple points and gets a little bit of a lead, and the Lady Raiders quit. Their intensity and communication on the court drops off and there and too much lackadaisical play on offense and defense.
It sounds like the Lady Raiders are being scolded because of this, and that’s not the case. This team has noticeable problems going on and even though they are noticeable, the important part is that they are fixable.
The Lady Raiders will be back in action on Thursday, Dec. 4, when they travel to take on Luling as they try to get their second win of the season.
