The Columbus Lady Cardinals posted a 2-1 record in a recent three-game stretch before the Thanksgiving holiday. The Lady Cards played the likes of Bremond, Texas Truth HomeSchool and Lexington in this three-game stretch so let’s take a look at what happened.
Vs. Bremond, W, 43-37 In game one, the Lady Cards faced the Bremond Tigers and came away with a huge win against a quality opponent. Bremond did not make it easy for the Lady Cards either as they presented offensive and defensive challenges.
The Tigers did a good job of forcing the Lady Cards to find different ways to score as they defended the Lady Cards shooters well. The Lady Cards had no problem finding secondary scoring as their depth shined in this game.
Bremond’s offense was also executing very well against the Lady Cards and kept the score close. Later in the second half of the ball game, the Lady Cards defense started to execute their system better and thus started to shut down Bremond’s offense.
This led the Lady Cards to a 43-37 to start this three-game stretch on the right foot as they looked to carry this momentum into game number two.
Vs. Texas Truth HomeSchool, L, 49-29 In game two of this three-game stretch, the Lady Cards were handed their second loss of the year. This makes their record 4-2, so they are still in a good spot record-wise, but the concern is that their offense scored only 29 points.
This was the lowest amount of points the Lady Cards scored all season long, and they are averaging around 40 points a game. So, is it a big cause for concern? Maybe not because this team is good enough to bounce back.
But to take their foot off the gas for a team that they should have beaten is the cause for concern. The Lady Cards have big goals for themselves this season, and if they want to accomplish them, they cannot take games off.
Knowing this team though, they have already learned a ton from this loss and were ready to bounce back into the win column in their third game.
@ Lexington, W, 52-35 In game three, the Lady Cards bounced back in a major way as they went from scoring the fewest points in a game this season to matching their season high in points scored in a game this season.
The Lady Cards scored 52 points in the win over Lexington and really flexed their muscles after a loss. This was a very positive sign for this team because it showed that they are learning from their losses quickly, which will go a long way for them this season.
The Lady Cards now look ahead to their next game when the watch up with Bay City on Tuesday, Dec. 9, on their home court in Columbus.
