The Weimar Wildcats have dropped their second game in a row after they were defeated by the Fayetteville Lions.

The Wildcats were defeated by a score of 66-36 in a blowout loss to start the 2025 season with a 0-2 record.

Now losing games to start the season isn’t necessarily a bad thing as a lot of teams match up against stiff competition in an attempt to get better. The Wildcats are no different as they are facing a variety of different opponents across several different classifications to start the year.

Despite this, there is some cause for concern with the Wildcats getting blown out by 30 points in only their second game. Defensively it’s a no brainer that they have to clean things up because giving up 66 points consistently is going to do them no good this year.

Then on the offensive side of the ball things were not much better as the timing of some plays were off. That led to many turnovers and steals which resulted in points for Fayetteville.

They have to find a way to tighten up their defensive structure if they want to have success this season. A little more communication and honestly some more reps, because a lot of these guys were playing football instead of getting ready for basketball season, so they are still trying to find their groove again.

They undoubtedly will because this Wildcat team is loaded with talent, and they have a coach that knows how to bring the best out of them. There is still plenty of basketball left to play this season, but all eyes are on the Wildcats who are still hunting for their first win.

Much like the Ladycats, the Wildcats’ next game will also be against Nordheim on their home court on Tuesday, Dec. 9, at 7:30 p.m.
