In their past two games, the Rice Consolidated Lady Raiders were defeated by the Sealy Lady Tigers.

They took on the Lady Tigers in the Swamp Invitational tournament and then once more in a non-district match.

In the first game, the Lady Tigers brought the game right to the Lady Raiders and handed them their second loss of the tournament. Despite the loss, the Lady Raiders were ready for the challenge.

The Lady Tigers jumped out to a 6-3 lead early in the first quarter and continued to build on that lead throughout the game. Despite the early deficit, the Lady Raiders found some success on the defensive end of the ball.

Beautiful Johnson secured a steal which led to a fast break and points to get the Lady Raiders back into the game. The Lady Tigers offense continued to press though and reestablished their large lead in the second quarter.

In the second quarter, the Lady Tigers led with a score of 19-8 as they continued to force the Lady Raiders to make errors that led to points.

In the third quarter, the Lady Tigers lead grew to 37-14 and carried all of their momentum in the fourth. In the fourth quarter Lia Ramirez started to heat up from three-point land for the Lady Raiders to get them back into this game.

She finished the game with five three pointers scored but unfortunately, they came up just short on the scoreboard with a score of 47-26.

In game two against the Lady Tigers, the Lady Raiders struggled mightily on offense as they did not score their first point until 2 minutes left in the second quarter. The Lady Raiders scored once at the free throw line and then Ramirez shot and made a three pointer to bring a 16-4 lead into halftime.

In the second half the Lady Raiders offense came to life and started to put point on the board. Ramirez led the way as she scored two three points in the second half to cut into the Lady Tigers’ lead.

Beautiful Johnson even stole a ball from the Lady Tigers which led to an easy lay-up for two points to keep the Lady Raiders comeback hopes alive. Unfortunately, the Lady Tigers extended their lead once more and put the game out of reach.

Blessin Adams was not done with the game yet though as she heaved up a three point shot that found the bottom of the basket to arrive at the final score of 39-21.

The Lady Raiders now set their sights on their next game against Hallettsville on the road on Tuesday, Dec. 16, at 6:15 p.m.
