The Weimar Wildcats were handed their 8th loss of the season as they were defeated by the Moulton Bobkatz last Tuesday.
The Wildcats were defeated by a score of 34-71 as the Wildcats defense never really found their footing in this game.
The game started out a little slow for the Wildcats as they only scored five points in the 1st quarter of the game. Meanwhile Moulton scored 18 points to give themselves a very comfortable lead heading into the 2nd.
The Wildcats in the 2nd quarter still had a hard time getting shots to fall as they scored only three points. Now, this is not from a lack of effort as these kids tried everything to get shots to fall.
They moved the ball well and got quality looks at the basket just for whatever reason they could not get shots to find the bottom of the basket. These dry spells happen to every team, and the Wildcats are no exception.
They turned their offense around in the second half of the game but in the second quarter Moulton scored 14 more points to carry a 32-8 lead into halftime. This was a big hole the Wildcats dug themselves, but they came out in the second half looking to give Moulton a game.
In the 3rd quarter, the Wildcats scored 12 points, which is more than they scored in the first two quarters combined to show that their offense was back. They managed to cut into Moulton lead a little, but Moulton scored 20 points in the 3rd to carry a 53-20 lead into the final quarter.
In the final quarter, it was a very tight defensive game, but both teams managed to score double digits. The Wildcats scored 14 as they increased their total from the 3rd quarter but unfortunately Moulton scored 19 points to arrive at the final score of 71-34.
Despite the score the Wildcats played a very strong second half, which is something they can build off going into their next game. It was a hardfought loss for the Wildcats who just did not have the bounces go their way in the first half of the game.
The Wildcats are still in a good spot with a 5-8 record but will look to get back in the win column on Tuesday, Dec. 30, when they take on Dime Box on their home court in Weimar.
