Colorado County Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors is stepping up by offering a $10,000 Board Matching Challenge. Every dollar donated will be matched, dollar for dollar, doubling the impact of your generosity.
Your gift will directly support the construction of our 32nd Habitat home in Columbus, TX for the Acevedo family, while also helping us purchase additional land for future Habitat homes.
The goal is to raise $300,000 to build a safe, permanent home for Kristina and her three young children, and to secure two additional lots for families still waiting for a place to call home.
Kristina is a hardworking single mother employed at the local community hospital, and a two-year breast cancer survivor. When she first applied for a Habitat home, she was not selected-and shortly afterward, she was diagnosed with cancer. Nearly two years later, Kristina reapplied and was chosen as a future Habitat homeowner.
Today, her family is living in a rental home with a “failing roof that requires tarps, buckets to catch rainwater, and temporary fixes to keep animals from entering.” A Habitat home will provide her family with a healthy, safe place to heal, grow and look toward a stronger future.
All gifts will also support our Critical Home Repairs Program, which primarily serves senior citizens in our county. To date, we have helped 31 families and invested over $250,000 to help seniors remain safely in their homes.
