The traditional Soup for Souls returned for a seventh year to warm community members hearts with gifts and flavorful food for the holidays, Friday, Dec. 19.

Containers of soup for Soup for Souls fill a fridge, Friday, Dec. 23.

Headed by Edward Pavlicek, Jessicca Ramirez and the Ramirez family, Soup for Souls distributed gifts to dozens of families through a drive-through in Columbus. Families previously signed up to receive a box with a toy for each child in the family alongside the meal.

The warm soup was handmade by Pavlicek and his son Hunter Holland. Jessica’s daughter, Natalia Ramirez, assisted with distributing gifts to families.

“Christmas has always been a big holiday in our family, so for us to be able to help other families that can’t afford it, especially in hard times, I think it means a lot,” Natalia told The Citizen last year. “… We used to be those little kids that would have big smiles on our faces whenever our parents would give us those gifts. To be able to give back to these kids is amazing.”

Dozens of boxes full of gifts for families await distribution through Soup for Souls, Friday, Dec. 23.
