The Columbus Lady Cardinals faced off against the Industrial Lady Cobras in their final game of 2025.

The Lady Cards finished off the calendar year on a high note as the defeated Industrial with a score of 53-41.

The win pushed the Lady Cards to a 17-5 record overall and a 2-0 record in district. These district wins are extremely important, especially early on in their schedule.

These district games make or break a team’s playoff chances, and the Lady Cards understand this. They came out in attack mode in this game and never trailed during the game.

They won the turnover battle which was a big factor in them picking up the win this game. They had 12 steals to Industrial's nine, and all 12 of the Lady Cards’ steals led to points for them.

They moved the ball well and got a lot of quality looks at the basket but had a hard time getting shots to fall especially from three-point land. They sported an 11% shooting percentage from 3-pt range while Industrial sported a 50% shooting percentage.

The Lady Cards did a lot of their damage tight and close to the basket as they scored 45% of their shots compared to 36% field goal percentage from Industrial. Being able to score effectively and efficiently from in tight was a huge benefit for the Lady Cards because it allowed them to build their lead slowly over the course of the game.

They also did a good job at handling their business at the free throw line as they made 59% of their free throws Friday night in the win over Industrial. Now the Lady Cards did commit their fair share of fouls against Industrial.

But luckily for them, the Lady Cobras had an off night from the free throw line scoring only 31% of their shots. In a 12-point loss free throws could have been the biggest difference in this one, and the Lady Cards made the most of their opportunities when at the charity stripe.

This Lady Cards team is really starting to settle into the season nicely and it is coming at the right time. They are executing their systems well especially on the defensive side of the ball.

Their stellar defense is leading to offense, and they are taking over games earlier because their offense is scoring at great pace. The best part about it is that it is happening right as their district schedule is starting as this team begins to push for a playoff spot.

The Lady Cards will look to pick up another district win when they go on the road on Friday, Jan. 9, when they will take on the Palacios Sharkettes at 6:15 p.m.
