The Weimar Wildcats finished off the 2025 calendar year with two games that they split with one win and one loss.
The Wildcats took on the Snook Bluejays and the Dime Box Longhorns in their final games of 2025.
Coming off their loss to Anderson-Shiro, the Wildcats traveled to take on the Snook Bluejays. From the opening tip, the Bluejays dominated the game as their defense suffocated the Wildcats.
The Wildcats scored only six points in the first quarter as they struggled to get shots to fall early in the game. The stout Bluejays defense led to a ton of scoring opportunities for their offense as they scored 16 points in the first quarter.
They carried a 16-6 lead into the second quarter and in the second quarter it was more of the same from the Bluejays. The Bluejays scored 16 more points in the second quarter while they limited the Wildcats to only seven points in the second.
This left the game with a 32-13 lead at halftime, and this was a turning point for the Wildcats because their second half was a much better performance than the first.
The Wildcats with their backs against the wall came out swinging in the second half. In the third quarter they outscored the Bluejays 12-10 to carry a 42-25 score into the fourth quarter.
Both teams then scored 10 points each in the fourth to arrive at the final score of 52-35. The Wildcats learned a valuable lesson in this loss, and that was they had to start a little bit quicker than they did and not wait until the second half to get going.
They learned this lesson quickly and applied it to their next game against Dime Box. Against Dime Box the Wildcats played with some snarl in their game, and it reflected on the scoreboard.
While it was a close game, the Wildcats showed a lot of mental toughness as they picked up the win against Dime Box. The Wildcats won this game by only three points, and they truly earned it.
Dime Box never backed down from the Wildcats pressure and kept things close all game long. But the Wildcats defense shined brightly as they held on to secure a 53-50 to ring in the New Year.
The Wildcats now enter the district part pf their schedule where they will take on Bloomington on Tuesday, Jan 6, at 7:30 p.m.
