La Grange – Kreische Brewery & Monument Hill State Historic Sites in La Grange is seeking prospective volunteers to join their team in the new year. Volunteers are essential to the sites’ maintenance and operations, including guided tours, visitor orientation, weekend family programs, Spring Break activities, and Bluff SchuetzenFest, the site’s annual family heritage festival held each May.
Volunteers help share unique stories of local history with the public while creating lasting memories in the process. No prior experience is required: just passion and enthusiasm to support one’s local historic sites.
As part of its volunteer recruitment efforts, Kreische Brewery & Monument Hill will offer an Introduction to Interpretation training workshop at the end of January.
During this two-day workshop, hosted by Sites Educator Railey Tassin, current and prospective volunteers will gain the skills and confidence to create meaningful, engaging experiences for visitors. “Effective interpretation can transform an average visit to a historic site into an experience visitors remember for years to come,” says Tassin.
The Interpretation workshop will be held Wednesday, Jan. 28 and Thursday, Jan. 29 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Participation is free, but a pre-workshop application is required to secure a spot.
