Weimar City Council appointed Director of Finance and Interim City Manager to be the new City Manager during a meeting, Thursday, Jan. 15.

Mason has served in the interim since the resignation of former City Manager Donald Dixson and previously served in the same role before Dixson’s employment. Mason has worked for Weimar for 18 years, sitting in on countless city council sessions. Weimar Mayor Carlton Tucker said the council has “every faith” Mason will do a good job.
“He certainly has a good background and knowledge of what it takes to manage a city because he’s worked with any number of city managers and has been able to see firsthand exactly what’s expected, what kinds of decisions have to be made, what it takes to work with a city council,” Tucker said. “…While he’s not really served as city manager, he’s certainly been intricately and intimately involved in that city management process.”
Tucker said the city will now begin looking to fill the Director of Finance position. He said he expects the position to be posted soon with Mason handling interviewing and job selection.
