On the morning of Jan. 28, 2026, the Colorado County Sheriff's Office received three separate reports of stolen UTVs in the unincorporated area and the community of Garwood, Texas.
Investigators from Colorado County, along with our Patrol Division, the Office of Emergency Management, and the Southwest Texas Cattle Association Rangers Division, conducted ground and drone searches in the area to locate the stolen UTVs, but the efforts were unsuccessful. Multiple tire tracks were observed, indicating that the UTVs had been driven off the property. Additionally, investigators recovered images from game cameras to assist with the investigation.
On January 29th, while investigators from the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office were actively investigating these thefts, Sheriff Justin Lindemann was patrolling the Garwood/Nada Prairie area when he observed fresh tire tracks leading to a gate. With the property owner’s permission, a subsequent search of the area was conducted, resulting in the discovery of three stolen UTVs hidden in a heavily wooded area. The UTVs were found approximately 300 yards from the roadway. All three UTVs were successfully recovered and returned to their rightful owners.
At this time, no arrest has been made, and the investigation continues. If you have any information regarding these cases, please get in touch with Colorado County Crime Stoppers (CCCS) for a reward.
