The Columbus Cardinals extend their winning streak to nine games, eight of which are in district play to give them an 8-0 district record.

The Cards sit in first place of the district standings and won back-to-back district games over Industrial and Tidehaven to help solidify them in first place right now.

@ Industrial, W, 43-42 In their first game, the Cards took on the Industrial Cobras who are in second place in the district standings. Any time the first-place team plays the second-place team there is always a ton of excitement and this game lived up to the hype.

The Cards started the game out a bit slow being outscored 12-8 in the first quarter, but they came back in the second quarter looking for offense. They outscored the Cobras 9-5 in the second quarter to leave the game with a 17-17 score going into halftime.

In the third quarter, the Cards kept pouring on the points and outscored the Cobras 18-15 in the third to take the lead into the fourth quarter. The Cobras came back in the fourth quarter as they tried to defend their home court and come away with a win.

But the Cards were able to hang on and do just enough offensively to come away with a 43-42 win. With this district win in their back pocket, the Cards came back to their nest and shifted their focus to their game against Tidehaven.

Vs. Tidehaven, W, 62-43 The Cards welcomed the Tidehaven Tigers to their home court for their second district game. The Cards had a much better time in this game because the score was not as close as the game against the Cobras, and they dominated from the opening tip.

The Cards are starting to find their rhythm at this point in the season, and their offense is big, strong, talented, and they move the ball well. But most importantly they are scoring when they get opportunities.

They have a very strong paint presence and are out rebounding teams as well which is leading to more offensive opportunities. Then on the flip side their defense came to play against Tidehaven.

Brody Tribe, Rylan Carruthers, Wyatt Tipton and Brody Vinklarek are all using their length and size to thwart any opportunity Tidehaven had in Tuesday night’s game. They held Tidehaven to only 43 points as they cruised to a 62-43 victory.

With back-to-back district wins and nine in a row, the Cards will look to continue their winning ways on Friday, Feb. 6, when they take on the Rice Raiders in a Colorado County Showdown at 7:30 p.m.
