Editor's Note: A front-page headline in last week’s issue concerned a Commissioners Court proclamation for Black History Month and the lifting of a burn ban for the county. Regardless of better intentions, this headline was written without the usual care the staff normally practices. I apologize to our readers and the community for the harm this offensive headline has caused. The headline has since been updated on our website to read: “Commissioners Court proclaims Black History Month". I am grateful for the accountability, guidance and education of the community members whom I love to write for and my colleagues. I and the staff of the Citizen are open to further discussion with the community. -Allison Drinnon
The Colorado County Commissioners Court approved a proclamation for Black History Month, urged residents to heed the weather forecast for when to light controlled burns safely and approved other business, Monday, Feb. 9.
