County CAD in compliance with school districts

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Colorado County Central Appraisal District (CAD), Michael Trefny announced that the Chief Appraiser Jane Armontrout reported to the Board of Directors at its meeting held on Feb. 10, that the CAD received notice from the Texas Comptroller’s Property Tax Assistance Division that the Colorado County CAD had passed the most recent mandatory Property Value Study (PVS) for each local school district in Colorado County.

The CAD values were determined to be in full compliance and all school districts were determined to have a valid value. Passing the PVS is critical in maintaining maximum state funding for the school districts. This marks the second consecutive year that all Colorado County school districts have had acceptable values in the Property Value Study. As recently as 2023, the values assessed by the prior administration of the CAD failed to meet the PVS requirements for Columbus ISD and it lost significant state funding for the following year.

Trefny congratulated Chief Appraiser Jane Armontrout and her team, who are responsible for the successful most recent two passing scores. This is a welcome relief after several years of disarray prior to Ms. Armontrout returning to lead the Colorado County CAD.
