COLORADO COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT

Sheriff’s Report

On Monday, Oct. 1, 2025, at approximately 6:55 p.m., Deputy Navarro was dispatched to a public service call at 2215 Walnut Street in Columbus, Texas, which resulted in a violation of a protective order. Case open.

On Monday, Oct. 2. 2025, at approximately 9:15 a.m., Deputy Lopez was dispatched to the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office jail in reference to an inmate in crisis. The inmate was evaluated by Texana and referred to follow up with Southern Health Partners to provide psychiatric services.

On Thursday, Oct. 2, 2025, at approximately 11:40 a.m., Deputy Blair was dispatched to 2215 Walnut Street in reference to a complainant inside of the lobby. Case closed; information only.

On Thursday, Oct. 2, 2025, at approximately 9:36 p.m., Deputy Villarreal was dispatched to the 3000 block of Tinkler Street in Rock Island, Texas, in reference to an assault. Upon arrival, the deputy met with the complainant and obtained information to generate a report. The case is active.

On Friday, Oct. 3, 2025, at approximately 3:28 p.m., Officer Byars was dispatched to the Columbus Community Hospital in reference to a dog bite. Upon further investigation, enough information was gathered on scene to generate a report. Case cleared.

On Friday, Oct. 3, 2025, Deputy Smith, at approximately 6:12 p.m., was dispatched to 1009 CR 92 regarding a burglar. Upon further investigation, a report was taken.

On Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, at approximately 12:00 a.m., Officer Johnson was running traffic in the 3800 block of U.S. 90 in Columbus, Texas, and initiated a traffic stop on a gray Mazda. After an investigation, the driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Case cleared by adult arrest.

On Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, at approximately 10:49 p.m., Deputy Villarreal conducted a traffic stop in the 600 block of FM 3013 in Eagle Lake, Texas. After further investigation, the driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated. The case was cleared by arrest.

On Sunday, October 5, 2025, at approximately 1:08 a.m., Deputy Blaha was dispatched to the 1300 block of Loose Cow Road in Altair, Texas, in reference to a fight in progress. Upon arrival, the deputy spoke with individuals on scene. After further investigation, a report was taken.

On Monday, Oct. 6, 2025, at approximately 6:08 p.m., Deputy Navarro was dispatched to 2215 Walnut Street in Columbus, Texas, in reference to found property that was located near Highway 71 and the crossover by Edward Gundelach. The wallet and its contents were secured and will be mailed to the owner. Case cleared; information only.

On Monday, Oct. 6, 2025, at approximately 10:24 a.m., Deputy Lopez was dispatched to Columbus Oaks Nursing Home in reference to a mental health crisis. The subject was later admitted to a psychiatric facility for treatment.

On Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2025, at approximately 9:45 a.m., Deputy Lopez was dispatched to the Texana Clinic in reference to a juvenile in crisis. The juvenile was later transported to a psychiatric facility for treatment.

On Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2025, at approximately 9:16 a.m., Deputy Moulder was contacted by a complainant at the 1000 block of Old McDonald Road in Columbus, Texas, in reference to criminal trespass. A report was taken and a criminal trespass warning was served. Case cleared.

On Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2025, at approximately 4:57 p.m., an assault report was taken at the Colorado County Jail involving two inmates. During the investigation, an aggressor could not be identified. The case is for information only.

On Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2025, at approximately 11:58 a.m., Deputy Lopez was contacted by Texana staff in reference to a mental health subject in crisis at the Texana Clinic. The patient was evaluated and later transported to a psychiatric facility for treatment.

On Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2025, at approximately 1:41 p.m., Deputy Cantu contacted Colorado County Dispatch and requested a wrecker service for an abandoned bumper-pull trailer located at the 695-mile marker on Interstate 10 in Columbus, Texas. The trailer was towed and entered into NCIC/TCIC as stolen abandoned.

On Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2025, at approximately 2:38 p.m., Deputy Cantu contacted Colorado County Dispatch and requested a wrecker service for an abandoned Nissan Rogue SUV located at the 686-mile marker on Interstate 10 in Columbus, Texas. The vehicle will be stored at Bob’s Wrecker Service.

On Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, at approximately 1:02 a.m., Deputy Frey was dispatched to the 2800 block of U.S. Highway 90A in Rock Island, Texas, in reference to a disturbance. After further investigation, a Rock Island resident was arrested for assault by contact. The individual was transported to the Colorado County Jail and released to on-duty jail staff without further incident. Case cleared by adult arrest.

On Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Deputy Frey was dispatched to the area of FM 102 and South Feeder Road in Alleyton, Texas, in reference to a welfare concern. After further investigation, an Eagle Lake resident was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana. The individual was transported to the Colorado County Jail and released to onduty jail staff without further incident. Case closed by adult arrest.

On Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025, at approximately 8:02 p.m., Deputy Melendez was dispatched to the 5200 block of Main Street in Sheridan in reference to a vehicle burglary. The victim reported that unknown person(s) took property without his knowledge or consent. No suspect descriptions were available at the time of the report. Case cleared.

On Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025, at approximately 9:04 p.m., Deputy Melendez was dispatched to the area of FM 2144 near FM 532 in reference to a welfare concern. Deputies were unable to locate the subject. This case was documented for information only.

On Sunday, Oct. 12, 2025, at approximately 2:22 a.m., Deputy Navarro was dispatched to Columbus Community Hospital in reference to an animal bite that occurred on County Road 151. An eight-year-old child was reported to have been attacked by his dog, Duke. This case was documented for information only and remained pending a veterinary visit.

On Sunday, Oct. 12, 2025, at approximately 3:16 p.m., Deputy Blair was dispatched to a residence on Old Alleyton Road in reference to a civil complaint.

On Sunday, Oct. 12, 2025, at approximately 4:31 p.m., Deputy Thomas was dispatched to a welfare concern on Interstate 10 near the FM 102 overpass. The subject was located and determined to be intoxicated. The subject was placed into custody for public intoxication. Case closed by arrest.

On Monday, Oct. 13, 2025, at approximately 11:11 a.m., Officer Schoppe was dispatched to Columbus Community Hospital on Schult Drive in reference to a mental health transport. A report was completed.

On Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025, at approximately 8:21 a.m., Deputy Navarro was dispatched to Interstate 10 near mile marker 680 westbound in reference to a motor vehicle accident involving a hit-and-run. The case remained active pending confirmation of company truck prosecution.

On Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2025, at approximately 10:00 p.m., Deputy Villarreal was dispatched to the 1900 block of County Road 112 in Garwood, Texas, in reference to a burn ban violation. A report was generated.

On Thursday, October 16, 2025, at approximately 12:40 p.m., Deputy Lopez was dispatched to the Colorado County Jail, located at 2215 Walnut Street in Columbus, Texas, in reference to an assault.

On Friday, Octo. 17, 2025, Deputy Mican met with a complainant in reference to identity theft. The complainant reported that someone had taken out a loan using her Discover card without her authorization. The case remained pending.

On Friday, Oct. 17, 2025, at approximately 2:44 p.m., Deputy Lopez was dispatched to Columbus Community Hospital in reference to a mental health transport. A juvenile was transported to a psychiatric facility for treatment.

On Friday, Oct. 17, 2025, at approximately 3:06 p.m., Officer Schoppe was dispatched to a residence in the 1400 block of Rampart Street in Columbus, Texas, in reference to an assault that had occurred earlier in the day in Colorado County. Information was received, and a report was taken.

On Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025, at approximately 8:08 p.m., Deputy Smith was dispatched to 601 East State Street in Eagle Lake, Texas, in reference to a shooting and stabbing that had occurred on Calhoun Road in Eagle Lake, Texas. After further investigation, an affidavit was issued for the suspect for aggravated assault family violence with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony.

On Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025, at approximately 11:36 p.m., Deputy Johnson was dispatched to Beason’s Park in Columbus, Texas, in reference to a lost property call. After further investigation, the owner of the phone was located and the property was returned.

On Monday, Oct. 20, 2025, at approximately 1:48 a.m., Deputy Johnson was dispatched to the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office in Columbus, Texas, in reference to a sexual assault call. After an investigation, a report was taken. The case remained pending further investigation.

On Monday, Oct. 20, 2025, at approximately 4:00 a.m., Deputy Frey was dispatched to the area near South Feeder Road and FM 2761 in Bernardo, Texas, in reference to an abandoned vehicle. Upon further investigation, the vehicle was towed by Delgado’s Wrecker Service and entered into state and federal systems as stored/abandoned. The case was closed by report, information only.
