Chamber looking for next junior ambassador

The Columbus Chamber of Commerce is seeking high school students eager to serve their community as Junior Ambassadors. The Ninth Annual Junior Ambassador Scholarship Program is now accepting applications.

The award recipient will participate in citywide events, represent the community, support and promote local businesses to advance economic vitality and quality of life throughout Columbus.

Candidates must be full-time students entering the 11th grade at Columbus High School or a local homeschool program in the fall of 2026. Applicants must be in good standing within the school and community, promote a positive image, and maintain strong moral character. The selected student must be available and willing to volunteer with the Chamber from May 2026 through May 2028, with a minimum commitment of 25 service hours over two years.

The new Junior Ambassador will join current Ambassador Amiah Gutherie in representing the Chamber at events and activities. The Chamber is also grateful to its outgoing Junior Ambassador Alejandra Diaz for her outstanding service over the past two years and wishes her continued success in all future endeavors.

Upon meeting program requirements, the recipient will receive a $3,000 scholarship toward higher education. Applications are available through the Columbus High School Counselor’s Office, at the Chamber office in the Stafford Opera House, or by emailing info@columbustexas. org to request a copy. Deadline to enter is March 31, 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for a student to represent their community, earn service hours, and receive a generous scholarship toward their future education. Donations to the Chamber’s Scholarship Fund are always welcome. For more information, contact Shelley Janik, Scholarship Coordinator, at 979-732-8385 or info@ columbustexas.
