Congratulations to SAS 7th grade teacher and Assistant Principal Danette Cantu for being awarded “Outstanding 7th Grade Texas History Teacher of the Year 2026” by the Dilue Rose Harris Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. Mrs. Cantu was recognized for her commitment to Texas History, achievements in teaching, and dedication to her students, school and community.

On Feb. 12, St. Anthony School participated in Sacred Heart’s Academic Meet in Halletsville. Saints in grades 5-8 earned the following awards: 5th grade – John Fitzgerald (2nd Religion, 4th Number Sense), Taylor Waldrop (1st Spelling), Katherine Anderson (4th Ready Writing), Nathan Decker (3rd Social Studies). 6th grade – Michael Smith (3rd Spelling), Carley Aaron (3rd Written Math, 2nd Number Sense), Hayes Kridel (3rd Number Sense), Kendal Winkenwerder (1st Ready Writing), Genesis Trujillo (5th Ready Writing). 7th grade – Landry Venghaus (2nd Religion, 2nd Texas History), Carson Crosby (1st Religion, 1st Texas History), Kathryn Newman (3rd Spelling, 4th Ready Writing), Kyle Glueck (1st Written Math, 1st Number Sense), Colson Glueck (4th Written Math), Emma Fitzgerald (3rd Ready Writing). 8th grade – Mia Brown (4th Religion), Kaden Glueck (3rd Written Math, 2nd Number Sense), Mitchell Smith (5th Written Math, 4th Number Sense, 5th Science).

Just a couple days are left to shop the Ignatius Book Fair in the SAS Library. Ignatius Book Fairs offer books that shape character and deepen faith while aligning with Christian values. In addition to school hours, the Book Fair will be open today and tomorrow until 4:00pm.

The SAS Track team competed in Halletsville yesterday and will participate in St. Michael’s meet this coming Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. St Philip in El Campo will host their track meet on 3/5.

Registration for the 2026-2027 school year is set to open to the public on March 16. A “Discover SAS” Open House is geared to Early Childhood students in grades 3K-Kindergarten and will be held on March 19 at 9 a.m. Call the school office if you are interested in attending the open house and discovering what SAS is all about.

Upcoming events: Class Group Pictures on Feb. 26. PSIA Academic Meet on Feb. 27. All are welcome at Children’s Mass each Friday at 8:15 a.m.

SAS student Brynn Pilat placed first in the13 year old girls’ division of the KC Free Throw Diocesan Competition. She now advances to the State Competition in San Antonio on March 7.
