The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), John Everett Chapter and the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR), Robert Rankin Chapter, recognized the home of Carol Lighthill located at 1053 Struss Lane in Columbus, for its February award.

Carol’s husband, Mahlon Lighthi l l served six years in the US Navy, some on the destroyer, the USS Craig. Mahlon served three deployments to Vietnam. Carol said that it means everything to her to be able to fly the United States of America flag. It is an honor to show respect for our country and the freedom given to us by those who fought and died for their country. Carol has been teaching piano for 40 years. She is very involved in her church and shares her musical and sewing talents by leading the quilting group at St. Paul Lutheran Church, as wel l as participating in biweekly devotionals at the local nursing homes. Brian Lighthill, Carol’s son, maintains the upkeep of the flag.
