The Weimar Ladycats basketball team were eliminated in the Area Round of the UIL Basketball Playoffs.

The Ladycats took on Burton in the Area Round and were eliminated with a score of 57-45 to end their season in the second round of the playoffs.

The Ladycats were coming off of a win against Bartlett in the Bi-District round. They defeated Bartlett 60-57 to capture the Bi-District Championship and then move on to take on Burton.

Against Burton, the Ladycats played a fierce game, and they came out swinging. The game was tight defensively and scoring was scarce.

Eventually though each team was able to break through and the scoring started to flow. Burton jumped out to an early lead, and the Ladycats just could not recover.

The Ladycats fought till the final buzzer but unfortunately, they were on the losing side of things. Despite the loss the Ladycats still have a ton of things to be proud of this season as they accomplished a lot and improved a ton from last season.

The Ladycats had a very successful season as they finished second in their district with a 9-3 record. This is an improvement from last season when the Ladycats came in third place in the district with an 8-4 record.

In addition to that, the Ladycats posted a 25-10 record this season, which is better than the 21-13 record the Ladycats had a season ago. The Ladycats posted a 71% winning percentage, which is an improvement from last season as well.

The Ladycats had a 61% winning percentage last season; they improved their winning ways by 10% in just one season. So, while their season came to an end earlier than they expected, the Ladycats are on the right track to make a deep playoff run and will return next season with big goals in mind.

The other good news is that the Ladycats have a very young team with only three seniors on the team, so the young guns from this year will be back next year hungry for more playoff action in 2026-27.
