Incredible photos and insightful descriptions of orchids found in the wild in Texas will impress and inspire you when you attend Friends of the Weimar Public Library’s newest program, “Wild Orchids of Texas.”
Joe Liggio, biologist and photographer, brings an exciting experience to attendees of this program on Friday, March 27 at 10 a.m. at the Weimar Public Library.
Texas wild orchids are known for their unique and intricate flowers, offering an array of distinct shapes and colors. From East Texas to the Trans-Pecos mountains, Texas is home to about 55 native species, three subspecies and two non-native introduced species of orchids, providing a vibrant display of color, elegance, and sophistication to their surroundings.
Texas orchids are rare hidden treasures, and the Liggio’s “Wild Orchids of Texas” will take the reader through where to seek the elusive flower to its blooming season and its distribution through the state, with a list by color, county, and habitat.
Known for their exotic beauty, the delicate bloom of the Texas orchid will be on display through Liggio’s photographic prowess. Put this program on your calendar. It is one you won’t want to miss.
