The Weimar Wildcats baseball team was handed their ninth loss of the season and sit at a 2-9 record for the 2026 season.
The Wildcats were shutout by the Tidehaven Tigers recently and had a hard time on both sides of the ball.
The game lasted only four innings, but the Wildcats defense looked strong early in the game. They gave up only one run to Tidehaven in the first inning but unfortunately, they could not get anything from their offense in the bottom of the first.
The game then went scoreless in the second inning as both teams tried to find some offense. In the third inning though Tidehaven’s offense exploded and they put the game out of reach.
Tidehaven scored 12 runs in the top of the third inning to extend their lead to 13-0. Things started off promising for the Wildcats defense in the top of the third inning as Hunter Simon secured a strike out on the leadoff batter.
But then a dropped strike three and a walk led to Tidehaven getting runners on base which was followed up by a single to drive home two runs. Tidehaven hit a double after this sequence which brought home another run to go up 4-0.
The Wildcats then gave up five singles, another double and walked three batters which led the Tidehaven going up 13-0, going into the bottom of the third inning. Nicholas Vasquez hit the lone single in the bottom of the third inning, but that was all the offense they saw in the bottom of the third.
Then in the fourth and final inning of the game, the Wildcats gave up five more runs to arrive at the final score of 18-0. The Wildcats had a bad outing on both offense and defense and will be looking to clean all of it up before taking the field for their next game.
The Wildcats will be back in action on Tuesday, March 24, when they will take on Bloomington at 7 p.m.
