The Texas Veterans Commission recently awarded Hope For The Warriors (HOPE) a $150,000 one-year grant. The grant supports HOPE’s programs operational costs with the overarching goal to support post 9/11 service members, veterans and their families in Texas who face critical and limited financial needs.
The Texas Veterans Commission’s is a government agency with a mission to advocate for and provide superior service that will significantly improve the quality of life for all Texas veterans, their families, and survivors Celebrating 20 years of service, HOPE assists post 9/11 veterans, service members and military families with services that range from critical needs assistance, career and financial coaching, forging community connections through physical activity, caring for mental health and offering peer support.
The $150,000 grant will be used to provide direct, limited financial support to Texas-based military families to ensure housing stability in the form of rent/ mortgage and utilities, and food security; as well as transportation costs to remove barriers to essential mental and medical care/treatment/appointments.
For the July 1, 2025 to August 31, 2026 period, the Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) awarded 213 grants, totaling $46,315,000. TVC grant recipients are projected to provide direct services to 40,000 veterans, their dependents, and surviving spouses.
“Each year, more military families are turning to us for help meeting urgent financial needs,” said Robin Kelleher, co-founder and CEO of Hope For The Warriors. “Thanks to the support of the Texas Veterans Commission, we can continue easing the burden on Texas veterans and service members by helping them stay housed, fed, and connected to essential care.”
This is the fourth grant awarded to Hope For The Warriors to assist military families in Texas from the Texas Veterans Commission totaling $619,269.45.
