Columbus golf results from Eagle Lake Tournament

The Columbus Cardinals and Lady Cardinals competed in the Eagle Lake Golf Tournament recently.

They came away with three individual medals total, one on the boys’ team and two on the girls’ team, but both finished in first place in the team’s score.

Starting with the girls’ team, they finished in first place as a team to keep their dominant streak alive. They have so far won every tournament that they have played in this season and show no signs of slowing down.

They were led by Thea Schobel, who finished in first place as an individual to add another gold medal to her collection. She navigated the course well and hit her shots straight and then played a strong game on the greens.

Katherine Burnett, Thea Schobel, Maddy Garcia and McKinley Wright celebrate their team gold medal together.

She finished the course shooting an 89 which is only 19 strokes above par. Not too far behind her was her teammate Katherine Burnett who came in third place and earned a bronze medal as an individual.

Burnett played a very solid game with a couple of minor detours on the course, but she brought it home to shoot a 94 which helped boost her team to a first-place finish.

Moving onto the boys’ side of things, they also came in first place as a team at the Eagle Lake Golf Tournament. They came in first place with a total of 324 shots and were led by an individual who took home a second gold medal.

Caswell Hill came in first place as an individual shooting a 76 which was just six strokes over par. His efforts went a long way in helping the Cards win the tournament and they will look to carry this momentum into their round on the golf course.

The Cards and Lady Cards will be back in action on Monday, March 30, playing in the District Tournament.
