The Columbus Lady Cardinals picked up a huge victory over the Palacios Sharkettes this past week.
The Lady Cards beat the Sharkettes with a score of 8-0 and only gave up one hit in the victory.
McKenna Eden pitched a great game from the circle for the Lady Cards against the Sharkettes. She pitched all seven innings, giving up only one run and struck out seven batters.
As for the game itself, the Lady Cards and the Sharkettes scored a total of zero runs in the first inning. That changed in the second inning when the Lady Cards offense came to life.
Peyton Drozd led things off with a single, but the Sharkettes got the first out of the inning shortly after. The Lady Cards then loaded the bases thanks to two walks which were followed by the second out of the inning.
That brought Demi Roecker to the plate, and she hit a line drive into left field which cleared the bases and left her on second base. Her double sparked the Lady Cards dugout and gave them a 3-0 lead.
The third inning was scoreless as well, and then in the fourth inning the Lady Cards extended their lead. Aggie Rodriguez was hit by a pitch to get a runner on base but after two outs, the Lady Cards showed off their two out hitting abilities.
Roecker was hit by a pitch then Hattie post hit a single which loaded the bases and brought Kaylea Foster to the plate. Foster hit a line drive to left field to record a double and clear the bases to give the Lady Cards a 6-0 lead.
In the fifth inning, the Lady Cards extended their lead by one run thanks to a sacrifice fly ball to drive in a run. They carried a 7-0 lead into the 7th inning where another sacrifice fly ball brought in the final run of the game to arrive at the final score of 8-0.
The Lady Cards now sit with a 15-7 record and will look to continue to stack wins as they face their next opponent the Hallettsville Lady Brahmas on Tuesday, April 7, at 7 p.m.
