On Monday, Dec. 15, 2025, at approximately 2:15 p.m., Deputy Robert Blair was dispatched to 1160 McElroy Lane in New Ulm, Texas, in reference to stray livestock. The case was cleared after the cattle owner was located.
On Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2025, at approximately 5:00 a.m., Investigator Jacob Gorman arrived at the 2200 block of Highway 71 South in Columbus, Texas, along with Investigator Pavlicek and the Austin County Special Response Team to execute a search warrant at a residence. After further investigation, Michael Aguilar, 38, of Columbus, Texas, was arrested for possession of marijuana less than five pounds but more than four ounces, a state jail felony, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance PG1 less than one gram, state jail felonies. The case was cleared by adult arrest.
On Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2025, at approximately 7:23 a.m., Deputy Robert Blair was dispatched to the 6600 block of Highway 71 in Altair, Texas, in reference to two loose horses. A notice of estray was completed. The case is pending.
On Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2025, at approximately 5:50 a.m., Deputy Corrina Navarro was dispatched to Delia Street near Cat Spring Road in Eagle Lake, Texas, in reference to a welfare concern. After further investigation, Charlie Phelps, 45, of Eagle Lake, Texas, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance PG1 less than four grams, a third-degree felony. The case was cleared by adult arrest.
On Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2025, at approximately 11:00 a.m., Deputy Frankie Cantu was dispatched to the 7300 block of State Highway 71 in Garwood, Texas, in reference to a public indecency offense. Enough information was gathered to generate a report. The case remains active.
On Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2025, at approximately 12:09 p.m., Deputy Corrina Navarro was dispatched to Dollar General, 1409 US 90A in Sheridan, Texas, in reference to an unwanted subject. After further investigation, deputies determined a trespass warning was needed. The case was cleared.
On Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2025, at approximately 5:53 p.m., Deputy Michael Frey was dispatched to the TA Truck Stop, 6701 US Highway 90 in Sealy, Texas, in reference to an inmate transport. The Austin County Sheriff’s Office had a subject in custody with multiple warrants from Colorado County. The subject was taken into custody and transported to the Colorado County Jail, where he was booked on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, warrant #25FW0009, and possession of a dangerous drug, warrant #25ABW0018. The case was cleared by adult arrest.
On Thursday, Dec. 18, 2025, at approximately 2:11 p.m., Deputy Corrina Navarro and Deputy Wyatt Schoppe were dispatched to Business 71 and Garden Lane in reference to a single motor vehicle accident and a possibly intoxicated driver. After further investigation, Connor Sean Alexander Hosay, 26, was arrested for driving while intoxicated, enhanced. The case was closed.
On Thursday, Dec. 18, 2025, at approximately 4:21 p.m., Deputy Andrew Lopez responded to an inmate in the Colorado County Jail requesting psychiatric care in Columbus, Texas. It was determined the inmate was in crisis and needed immediate psychiatric treatment. The inmate was transported to West Park Springs for treatment and placed under a jail detainer. The case remains open.
On Friday, Dec. 19, 2025, at approximately 12:13 p.m., Deputy Robert Blair was dispatched to Braden Lane and Business 71 in Colorado County, Texas, in reference to a hitand- run motor vehicle accident. After investigation, Brandon Wiege was arrested for expired driver’s license and collision involving damage to a vehicle greater than $200. The case was cleared by adult arrest.
On Sunday, Dec. 21, 2025, at approximately 8:57 a.m., Deputy Robert Blair was patrolling the 3500 block of Highway 90 in Glidden, Texas, when he observed an abandoned vehicle that had been left for more than 48 hours. The vehicle was impounded by Bob’s Towing. The case was cleared for information only.
On Sunday, Dec. 21, 2025, at approximately 8:06 p.m., Deputy Alexander Chapa was dispatched to the area of Townstead Street in Garwood, Texas, in reference to an intoxicated person. Upon arrival, enough information was gathered to generate a report. The case was cleared.
On Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2025, at approximately 5:50 a.m., Deputy Wyatt Schoppe was dispatched to 2013 County Road 102 in Altair, Texas, in reference to a welfare concern. A report was completed and the patient was transported to the hospital for a mental health evaluation.
On Thursday, Dec. 25, 2025, at approximately 3:13 p.m., Deputy Benjamin Melendez conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 10 westbound near mile marker 693. The driver, Jerel Laroy Taylor, 25, of Port Arthur, Texas, intentionally prevented or obstructed attempts to effect an arrest and was taken into custody for resisting arrest, search or transportation. He was transported to the Colorado County Jail.
On Friday, Dec. 26, 2025, at approximately 11:46 a.m., Deputy Corrina Navarro and Deputy Wyatt Schoppe were dispatched to IH-10 Eastbound Feeder Road near 2006 Alleyton Road South in Columbus, Texas, in reference to shots fired. After further investigation, Charles Walker, 45, of Converse, Texas, was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony. The case was cleared by adult arrest.
On Friday, Dec. 26, 2025, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Deputy Nicholas Villarreal conducted a traffic stop in the 2200 block of Highway 90 in Columbus, Texas. After further investigation, James Page, 46, of Austin, Texas, was arrested for driving while intoxicated. The case was cleared by arrest.
On Friday, Dec. 26, 2025, at approximately 7:34 p.m., Deputy Nicholas Villarreal met with a complainant at the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office in Columbus, Texas, in reference to a suicidal subject. Information was obtained and a report was completed for information purposes.
On Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m., Deputy Eric Smith was dispatched to 5000 Highway 90 in Cat Spring, Texas, in reference to a suspicious call. After further investigation, a report was taken and the case is awaiting additional information.
On Sunday, Dec. 28, 2025, at approximately 2:00 a.m., Deputy Zane Blaha was dispatched to the 1500 block of County Road 200 in Weimar, Texas, in reference to a subject attempting to kick in the door of a residence. Upon arrival, it was determined the subject had stolen a truck from the property. Ethan Baumbach, 17, of Weimar, Texas, was arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. The report was taken.
On Sunday, Dec. 28, 2025, at approximately 3:12 a.m., Deputy Erick Johnson was dispatched to Business 71 and North River Bridge in Columbus, Texas, in reference to a traffic accident. After further investigation, a report was completed for information purposes.
On Monday, Dec. 29, 2025, at approximately 11:56 a.m., Deputy Randy Mican met with a complainant at the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office in Columbus, Texas, in reference to an identity theft. The complainant stated he purchased a phone on Amazon and canceled the order the next day, but later received notification from his bank that a cellular company attempted to make two transactions on his account. The bank requested he make a fraud report. The case is pending.
On Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025, at approximately 11:04 a.m., Deputy Corrina Navarro was dispatched to 110 Shult Drive in Columbus, Texas, in reference to a dog bite that occurred at 6518 Cat Spring Road in Eagle Lake, Texas. Information was gathered and the case is pending a 10-day quarantine, follow-up, and vaccination records.
On Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025, at approximately 12:40 p.m., Deputy Wyatt Schoppe was dispatched to the I-10 westbound Exit 696 in Columbus, Texas, in reference to an abandoned vehicle in a lane of traffic. The vehicle was towed and a report was completed.
On Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025, at approximately 6:33 p.m., Deputy Michael Frey was dispatched to the 2000 block of Brunes Mill Road in Columbus, Texas, in reference to a stolen dog. Upon further investigation, the owner located the dog on Bailey Road. There is currently no information on the suspect who took the dog. The case remains open pending further investigation.
On Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025, at approximately 11:10 p.m., Deputy Michael Frey was dispatched to the area of IH-10 near FM 688–689 in Columbus, Texas, in reference to a welfare concern. After further investigation, it appeared the subject was suffering from a mental disorder, such as dementia or Alzheimer’s. The subject was transported to Columbus Community Hospital by Colorado County EMS. The subject’s emergency contact was located and advised of the situation and began traveling to the hospital to meet with the subject. The case was closed by report for information purposes.
