The Weimar Wildcats hosted the district championship golf match at the Weimar Golf Course this past week.
Enjoying the luxury of playing their home course, the Wildcats took full advantage of the opportunity and captured the district championship.
The Wildcats finished with a total of 370 strokes to win the district title and finished just in front of district rival Shiner and finished 16 strokes above their other rival Schulenburg. Shiner finished with a total of 376 strokes to put into perspective how close this match was.
The Wildcats were led by Collin Morrison who not only came in 2nd place but actually had to win a playoff to earn it. He finished with 86 strokes shooting 43 on both the front and back nine to come up big for the Wildcats.
Next was Trey Billeck who shot a total of 87 strokes to almost mirror Morrison’s performance. Billeck shot a 43 on the front nine and then shot a 44 on the back nine to arrive at a total of 87.
Next was Gage Sullivan who shot a 98 in the district match for the Wildcats. He shot 51 on the front nine and quickly found his game on the back nine to shoot a 47.
Then there was Brady Janecka and Braden Mueller who both shot a 99 and had opposite scores. On the front nine Janecka shot 51 and Mueller shot a 48. Then on the back nine Janecka shot a 48 and Mueller shot a 51 for both to arrive at 99 strokes total.
The Wildcats now set their sights on the Regional Round where they will look to keep their momentum rolling after capturing the district title.
