Colorado County Commissioners Court and Colorado County EMS recognized Marilyn Hinze for 40 years of emergency medical care to the county, Monday, April 13.
Colorado County EMS Director Michael Furrh presented the recognition to the court and spoke on Hinze’s commitment and care to the community. Hinze started as an Emergency Care Attendant in 1986 before earning her Emergency Medical Technician certification. Hinze has also provided first aid to Splashway Waterpark and Campground for many years.
“That’s four decades of answering the call, four decades of showing up when people needed help the most, and four decades of making a difference in thousands of lives across our community,” Furrh said, reading from a prepared statement that was later posted on Facebook.
In 2019, Hinze was awarded the Phoenix Award given to those who successfully resuscitate a patient from full cardiac arrest who survives with no neurological damage. In 2023, Colorado County EMS voted for her as EMT of the Year.
“That ability to combine skill, experience, and heart is what truly sets Marilyn apart. She doesn’t just treat patients; she connects with people,” Furrh continued. “Marilyn, your service, your compassion, and your legacy have left a lasting mark on Colorado County EMS and this entire community.”
