After winning 1st Place in the District 8A Middle School PSIA competition, St. Anthony School proudly brought back 11 awards from the State competition held in San Marcos on April 17. Three SAS students earned 1st place medals: Kendal Winkenwerder – sixth grade Ready Writing, Khloe Warschak – sixth grade.
On-Site Drawing, and Theresa Fitzgerald – fourth grade. Prose. The following students also earned awards: Kyle Glueck – third place in seventh grade Number Sense, Maddie Wright – third place in sixth grade Prose, Kaden Glueck – fourth place in eighth grade Number Sense, Landry Venghaus – fourth place in seventh/eighth grade Music Memory, Catheryn Besch – sixth place in 6th grade Science, Carley Aaron – sixth place in sixth grade Number Sense, Beau Neal – sixth place in fifth grade Ready Writing, and Louise Glueck – sixth place in fourth grade Ready Writing.
Congratulations to all 15 SAS eighth graders for receiving the Diocese of Victoria Bishop’s Award! Braxton Blaschke, Mia Brown, Sophia Fernandez, Abigail Fuller, Kaden Glueck, Owen Henneke, Isabelle Lowe, Charley McBride, Wyatt Pool, Taylor Radley, Isabella Rutiaga, Mitchell Smith, Matthias Walla, Keaton Watkins and Abigail Wolters earned the award by knowing 10 prayers, scoring at least an 85% on the Diocesan Test of Christian Doctrine, completing at least 15 hours of service, and leading their school in character and spirituality. Recipients were recognized after a special Mass at Our Lady of Victory in Victoria last Monday evening.
SAS Summer Camps have been set for June 29-April 1 and are open to all kids in grades kinder-eighth. Campers can sign up for cooking, football, volleyball or children’s literacy camps. Please check our social media pages to register via QR code or call the school office for more information.
Sports update: SAS Tennis is scheduled to play in a mini tournament today at the CHS courts. On Monday, May 4, the seventh and eighth grade players will compete in the Diocesan tourney in Halletsville, while the fifth and sixth graders will compete on Tuesday, May 5.
The SAS soccer team will play at St. Philip in El Campo tomorrow at 5 p.m. Saint softball has come to an end with the following players earned end-of-season awards: Devyn Krc – Offensive MVP, Carley Aaron – Fighting Heart, Kate Crosby – Most Improved, and Taitlyn Beauchamp – Defensive MVP.
