ALTAIR — The Rice Consolidated Raiders hosted the Edna Cowboys for their season finale April 21 to bring the 2026 season to a close.

The Raiders were unfortunately on the losing side of a 15-2 score to finish the year with a 7-15 record.

The game started out with the Cowboys opening the scoring in the top of the first inning. They scored three runs, but the Raiders were ready with a response in the bottom of the first inning.

The Raiders scored one run to cut the Cowboys lead down to 3-1, then in the bottom of the second inning, the Raiders scored once more to bring the score to 3-2. But then the Cowboys came roaring back to extend their lead.

They scored three runs in the top of the third inning, then one run in the fourth inning, two in the fifth and then six runs in the sixth inning. This brought the game to its final score of 15-2 to give the Raiders their 15th loss of the season.

Despite the loss, the Raiders are still continuously building towards a bright future on the baseball field where they hope to make the playoffs soon. The Raiders will return for the 2027 baseball season, and they will be hungry for more action as they set their sights on a post season berth.
