Each year the local VFW Auxiliary Post 5875 sponsors the “Illustrating America Art Contest” for students in grades in kindergarten through eighth grade.
The art is judged in three categories, kindergarten through second grade, third through fifth grade, and sixth through eighth grade.
The auxiliary presents each first-place winner with $25, a pin, and a certificate, each second-place winner with $15, a pin, and a certificate, and each third-place winner with $10, a pin, and a certificate.
All first-place winners move on to State competition.
