Sheriff’s Report
JANUARY 1
At approximately 3:56 pm, Deputy Schoppe was dispatched to the Colorado County Sheriff’s office lobby, located at 2215 Walnut St. in reference to a mental health subject. The subject was transported to a mental health facility and a report was completed.
JANUARY 2
At approximately 5:18 pm, Deputy Leihardt while patrolling interstate 10 eastbound lanes near mile marker 685, observed a silver car parked on the shoulder. After further investigation, the vehicle was towed by Colorado County Tow and entered into NICI/TCIC as a stored/ abandoned vehicle. Case closed.
At approximately 2:31 pm, Deputy Machac responded to the 500 block of Brazos Street in Glidden in reference to a burglary of a motor vehicle. They’re reporting party was arrested for an active out of county warrant.
At approximately 5:36 pm, Deputy Villarreal was dispatched to the 1000 block of County Road 107 to meet with a complainant in reference to a theft that occurred on December 12, 2025 near the 1000 block of County Road 107. On arrival, She met with a completed and obtained information to generate a report.
JANUARY 3
At approximately 2:36 pm, Deputy Blair was dispatched to make a public service with a complainant in reference to loose lifestyle. Case pending.
At approximately 3:17 pm, Deputy Melendez was dispatched to an unattended, death investigation in the 1100 block of FM 109 in New Ulm. The justice of the peace arrived and completed an inquest.
JANUARY 5
At approximately 7:44 am, Deputy Schoppe was dispatched to the 1000 block of Senior Bridge Road, Eagle Lake, in reference to illegal dumping. The trash was picked up and a report was completed.
JANUARY 6
At approximately 3:01 pm, deputy Blaha dispatched himself to interstate 10 mile marker 696 in reference to a male walking in the lanes of traffic. After further investigation, Wesley Laslie, 45, of Austin, was arrested for public intoxication. Case cleared by adult no arrest.
At approximately 5:46 pm, Deputy Frey was dispatched to the 3500 block of Highway 90 a in reference to a runaway juvenile. After further investigation, the runaway juvenile was located and returned to their guardians. An assault was reported and investigated and a juvenile suspect involved in the assault received a class C misdemeanor citation for assault by contact. Case closed by report.
At approximately 9:20 pm, Deputy Johnson was dispatched to the Colorado County Sheriff’s office in reference to a harassment call. After an investigation report was taken.
At approximately 9:44 pm, Deputy Frey was dispatched to the 100 block of Bluebonnet BND, in reference to an unwanted subject. Upon further investigation, a criminal trespass warning was issued to the suspect, and she was escorted off the property. Case closed by report.
At approximately 8:22 pm, Deputy Villareal conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of FM 806 in County Road 106 in Columbus, Texas. After further investigation, the driver, John Doe, age 22, and Columbus, was arrested for a DWI and evading arrest. The case was cleared by arrest.
JANUARY 8
At approximately 1:33 pm, Deputy Lopez was dispatched to the 100 block of Thelma Street, Glidden, in reference to a juvenile call. A CPS referral was made.
JANUARY 9
At approximately 8:48 am, Deputy Schoppe was dispatched to the 3800 block of US 90A, in Rock Island, in reference to property damage. An information report was completed.
JANUARY 10
At approximately 3:13 am deputies were dispatched to SH 71 S near CR 103 in Columbus in reference to a suspicious vehicle. Deputies were able to locate and attempted a traffic stop on the suspicious vehicle, with a vehicle fleeing from deputies. After a brief pursuit, the driver failed to maintain control of the vehicle, with the vehicle striking a culvert. The driver was transported by Colorado County EMS with criminal charges, pending after medical evaluation and further investigation.
JANUARY 12
At approximately 3:55 pm, Captain Alley met with a victim who wanted to report being harassed. Information was received and a report taken.
JANUARY 13
At approximately 2:27 pm, Deputy Lopez was dispatched to 1070 County Rd. 200, Weimar, in reference to illegal dumping.
JANUARY 14
At approximately 9:20 pm, Deputy Lopez followed up on an incident that occurred in Garwood, Texas. It was determined that a male subject was in crisis. The male subject was then transported to a psychiatric facility for treatment.
At approximately 8:48 pm, Deputy Chapa was dispatched to Columbus community hospital in reference to an assault that occurred on January 13, 2026 and 500 block of W. 3rd St., Sheridan, TX. Upon arrival, he met with a complainant. Enough information was gathered to generate a report. Case active.
JANUARY 15
Add approximately 4 pm, Deputy Lopez was dispatched to 505 N. East Main St., a Weimar, and reference to an agency assist.
JANUARY 16
At approximately 4:59 pm, Deputy Melendez took a theft report in the 100 block of Boothe Drive in Eagle Lake, Texas. The reporting party for the business stated that the merchandise was shipped from this location and is now unable to be located.
At approximately 8:07 pm, Deputy Byars was dispatched to the Columbus Community Hospital in reference to a mental transport. After further investigation, enough information was gathered to generate a case report. Case clear, information only JANUARY 17
At approximately 7:17 pm, Deputy Navarro was dispatched to 600 Highway 3013 W. Eagle Lake Texas in reference to a runaway cadet. After further investigation, John Whiteaker, age 17, Lubbock, was arrested for criminal, mischief and resisting arrest, search, or transportation. Case cleared by adult arrest.
At approximately 9 pm, Deputy Smith was dispatched to the 1100 block of Nelson Lane in Catspring in reference to a motor vehicle accident. While arriving on scene, a white and colored Ford pick up truck was blocking the entire road. Upon further investigation, the subject, David Fambro, had left the scene of the accident. David later arrived back on scene and was placed in custody for an outstanding warrant out of Alabama and also for public intoxication. Case cleared by adult arrest.
JANUARY 20
At approximately 1:56 pm, Deputy Chapa was dispatched to the 1400 block of FM 109, New Ulm, in reference to an animal called. Enough information was gathered to generate a report. Case active.
JANUARY 21
At approximately 2:20 pm, Deputy Blaha observed a traffic violation in a vehicle violation on a red Dodge Ram truck in the 2800 block of FM 109 and conducted a traffic stop. After further investigation, Scott, Garcia, of Needville, was arrested for possession of marijuana, 2 ounces or greater and unlawfully carrying weapons..
At approximately 3:25 pm, Deputy Pavlicek was investigating a burn, ban violation, on JT Powell Road near Sheridan, Texas. After further investigation, Robin Wayne Booher, age 48, of Roo La Porte, Texas was arrested for an out of county felony warrant. Case cleared by adult arrest.
At approximately 8:06 pm, deputies were dispatched to the 1000 block of old McDonald Lane in Columbus in reference to a disturbance. Upon further investigation, Leonardo Ramirez Villegas, 30, from Columbus, was taken into custody for interference with emergency request for assistance and transported to the Colorado County jail.
At approximately 9:52 pm, Deputy Navarro conducted a traffic stop on Highway 71 W. bound and Marek Road on a vehicle with the front passenger headlight being defective. After further investigation, Tyrus Coates, age 26, Houston, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance PG 2 4g>400g, possession of a controlled substance PG 1A<20AU, possession of marijuana <2oz, and unlawfully carrying weapon. Case cleared by adult arrest.
JANUARY 22
At approximately 11:32 am, Deputy Blaha was running stationary traffic on Highway 71 near Schobel Road when he observed a white and color BMW with no front license plate. He conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. After further investigation, Felix Pierce, of Buda, was arrested on possession of marijuana and unlawfully carrying weapon.
At approximately 3:12 pm, while patrolling Preston Street near Railroad Avenue, deputy Pavlicek initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation. After further investigation, Jimmy Mullican, age 62, of New Ulm, was arrested for possession of controlled substance PG1>1g<4g - Felony 3. Case cleared by adult arrest.
At approximately 1:35 pm, Deputy Mican received an email from the Texas Department of Adult Protective services in reference to Marilyn Barnstead, possibly being financially exploited. He spoke with the victim. The victim was unaware that she was being exploited. Case pending.
